Man, yall! Christmas is right around the corner! I'm so excited!

Now, I'm a Christmas junkie myself. If I was running my household, Black Friday shopping day would be spent at home, setting up decorations and blasting Christmas music. I started listening to Christmas music on my iPod this year in September. And remember: only 4 Thursdays left until my most favorite holiday!

I'm not sure what gets me so excited for Christmas. It isn't the gifts; I have no idea what I want this year and I arbitrarily threw some ideas into the air so my parents have some idea how to shop for me. The music gets me really pumped; to sing about Jesus and His birth and the importance to the world... there is something special about the message behind the music. Francesca Battistelli, in her song "Heaven Everywhere", suggests that everyone subconciously knows the importance surrounding the date and loves more deeply and sees a little bit of heaven everywhere. But for me, I don't think its any of these things that get me going.

Its hope. The hope of an eternal life given us by a baby who was born in very humble circumstances who rose to prominence, then condemned as a criminal, then rose again three days later and offered ME a spot in eternity. Even though I nailed Him to the cross. He entered our world knowing I would kill Him brutally, and He still walked through 30 years of His life, a God humbled to human needs and wants, and died for me. Thats some serious hope! And I love remembering every bit of it! To know that someone loved me enough to come to this earth... its awesome!

Christmas, the word, has become an AWESOME evangelical tool in our world recently. Surrounded by phrases of "Happy Holidays" (so that we don't offend anyone), we can best shine our lights by intentionally using Christ's name for His glory. Its Merry Christmas yall. Its a free country. Do NOT give up the privelage to say "Merry Christmas". You WILL change lives with such a simple phrase! My favorite Christmas song (I'm also a music junkie, so I'm like a Christmas music addict) is "Christmas With A Capital C" by Go Fish. Here are the lyrics to such an awesome song:

"I went to the coffee shop to get myself a mocha!
The lady at the counter said, 'Happy Holidays'.
I said, 'Thanks lady, I am pretty happy,
but there's only one holiday that makes me feel that way!'

And its called Christmas!
What more can I say?
Its about the birth of Christmas and you CAN'T take that away!
You can call it something else, but that's not what it'll be!
It's called Christmas with a capital C!

God's got a law, and we've pretty much destroyed it!
We're gonna get judged, there's no way to avoid it!
So He sent His Son to take the punishment for me,
and He did it for you too, so maybe you can see why

Its called Christmas!
What more can I say?
Its about the birth of Christ and you can't take that away!
You can call it something else but that's not what it'll be!
It's called Christmas with a capital C!"

This song just PERFECTLY sums up how I feel about Christmas! ITS ABOUT JESUS! It's got His name in it for a REASON!! Keep it in there people! Show this world what it means to love. Don't push and shove for an item, don't complain about things not being perfect, don't fall into the trap of tense family situations. All of this can be fixed when an eternal love is applied. I promise if you employ Jesus, Christmas will go well. He could care less if the decorations aren't well placed, He could care less if you didn't get the perfect gift, and He for sure could care less if your family has a rough history during the holiday season. For goodness sake, its not about any of that! Its about Jesus! And when you focus YOUR holiday on Jesus, the people around you will notice the difference and emulate the love that you emulate from Jesus. We are to be reflections of His light so that others are drawn to Him! Make sure yall #LiveItLikeJesus this holiday season!
