December 3, 2014

Hey guys! I've been told a couple times that I have a love for Jesus that is beyond my years. But let me tell you, Jesus is only getting started in me! I wanna share a story about a four year old in my AWANA class that will bless you!

This young lady, four years into the world, is teaching me how to love. She is full of life, and loves every second of it! She always has a smile on her face and can make anyone else smile! She loves to sit in laps, to read books, and is extremely smart. You see, I work with a program in my church (it is done in many other churches as well) called AWANA, which is where kids K-6 grades go to memorize Scripture, learn about Jesus, and do fun crafts/games! I have had the awesome privelage of being a teen helper to these kids for the past 2 years; this is my third year in the program. On top of my 5 years VBS experience, I am considered a veteran, because EVERY YEAR I have worked with the 4/5 year olds. Thats where my heart lies.

So this evening, the young lady I was describing previously had plopped herself down right next to me during Bible time. Like all young-uns (do I even have the right to say that?), she was a little restless but made it through respectfully. However, as we bowed our heads and closed our eyes to listen to the teacher pray us out, this young lady started to mumble her own personal prayer! She was talking to Jesus directly; totally bypassing the "middleman" in the teacher! It was amazing!

From the mumbling, I could only make out two distinct phrases. "...Oh Lord, I trust You... thank you for saving me." It was all I could do from standing up and throwing my fists in the air as everyone else was respectfully bowed. And this from a FOUR YEAR OLD!! Every week, she has the ENTIRE verse (the Cubbies, as they are called, are allowed to choose to memorize a half verse, or a whole verse), and she nails it. In addition, she can perfectly recite the PREVIOUS week's long version as well! This young lady astounds me! My heart was so warmed... oh my goodness :D To be counted as a brother in Christ to such a wonderful young lady... its a blessing! And you all are brothers and sisters in Christ to her as well!

I'm glad I got to share this with you; I have a lot of stress as I was out of school for a while and have a TON of makeup work to do. Jesus gave me the time and energy to mention this; I hope it blessed yall! Have a fantastic evening:) God bless!
