I Love You More

"I love you more than the sun and the stars, that I taught how to shine; you are mine, and you shine for Me too! I love you!" - Matthew West

The song "More" is a powerful one, and it's sung by Matthew West. It's a love song from God to us, and for me, at least, it really hits home. I love space. Space is so cool! I have learned many things and even incorporated my knowledge into some of my posts. But, regardless of how cool space is, God only made space and the things that fill it for my admiration. He wanted me to look into the sky, and say, "Wow, God, you made all things good. It's beautiful. Thank you." It's the universe's biggest love letter; what better way to say 'I love you' than to put a million billion stars into a sky that come out every night? Only One could do that, and we knew the 'love letter' was from Him, so He didn't even need to leave His signature.

How can others look into the night sky and proclaim it happened randomly? I don't understand! It is so magnificent and wonderful! Many will claim there was nothing, and then there was a lot of something. Or, more correctly, there was an infinitely small mass of infinite stuff (if I understand this right) and then it all just decided to explode, and BANG you've got a universe. Hence the Big Bang theory.

But, the way I see it, there was God. He was infinitely big, and infinitely loving. He knew everything that was going to happen; He had an infinite amount of time to plan, well, time. Everything. Meticulously planned and drawn up for His people's benefit. And then He spoke, and BANG, everything happened. That's MY Big Bang Theory. My Big God, BANG! He made a universe, just like that.

There are similarities there, for sure. But one has a God, and one doesn't. There's a lot to be said on the topic of Creationism and why God has to be the answer. There are even different Christian views on how our whole universe was started! Did it take billions of years with evolution, or a literal seven days? And then if it did take billions of years, did God create everything, then step back and wait for stuff to evolve by itself (Gap Theory)? Or did He create everything slowly, since, paraphrased, 'one day to God is like 1000 years, and 1000 years like one day,' (Day-Age Theory)?

I like to stick with literal (seven 24 hour days) creation, and I have my reasons. But that doesn't need to be debated; it's a study that you can do on your own and draw your own conclusions. It isn't saving grace.

But, no matter HOW God created it all, He did! And He made it for US to admire! He didn't create it all to play around with when He was bored. He doesn't yawn, and put a finger in our universe to swirl some stars around in an unknown corner of the universe, just to kill time. I believe that God wanted every single piece of Creation, from big stars to little amoeba, to be recognized as HIS majesty. He put everything in JUST the right spot! To give a brief example, if the Earth were just 3% closer to the Sun we'd burn to death and if we were just 3% farther from the Sun we'd freeze. That is an EXTREMELY slim margin of error for random chance to work in... especially when you consider that there are similar Goldilock's zones throughout Creation.

It was made all in love for us. He made it so we could stand in awe and just glorify Him! How amazing!! He made it for us to enjoy! Dwell on this! When Love does, it does it big! God didn't go for good enough, and give us a few stars... He made an entire UNIVERSE!! And we probably won't discover it all, but hey, He made the parts we won't acknowledge for us out of love as well.

And He made those things to shine for Him, just as WE shine for Him. WE are the ones He is watching; He just put those stars up to show us how unashamedly we can shine! Notice how none of the other stars complain that the sun gets all the attention; in fact, the other stars YIELD to the sun's glory. It's only when the sun isn't seen that the other stars can be seen reflecting the same glory!

In the same way, we should yield to Jesus and always point to Him. Even if we don't get noticed or acknowledged for our actions. And, when the time is right, when Jesus seems gone and hope is lost, others will see the light we shine that God has given to us! Granted, it is much smaller, but TOGETHER, we make a beautiful picture! One Son is all it takes to change night to day, but many of us, together, make a night bright with hope. One little star couldn't offer hope; we need to shine together, careful not to block the other stars' lights out.

God loves us more. He tells us everyday. No matter how awesome we view the creation, He views us as MORE awesome. He delights in us more than any other! We are His penultimate creation; the quintessence of His work. He made us, and He made us very good. We are sinful, but through Jesus, He has REMADE us! And now, clothed in Jesus's righteousness, we are once again very good. And, like the last half of Matthew West's song says:

"Yesterday, and today, and tomorrow, I'll say it again and again: I love you more!"

Remember to #LiveItLikeJesus this week!
