Blind Love

Love is blind. It really is, in its purest form.

Well, partially blind anyways! It doesn't see ALL of us, Love sees what it chooses. And our God, who is Love, looks past our sins and iniquities to His Son's, Jesus's, righteousness! How amazing! A God, who is JUST, who has every right to condemn us to Hell for even approaching Him in our current state, sinful as we are, is also LOVING. Our God is incomprehensible! Who could've thought that grace and justice could mingle so beautifully? When we think of justice, we imagine certain punishment for any crime; the punishment varying based on the atrocity. This is the culture we have grown up in! How amazing to find that our God is loving, not only to forgive us once, but to extend His eternal grace!

His love is infinite. While our's is finite, His goes on forever. Our love is corruptible, and we will fall to temptation, but His is incorruptible. Our love will fail and our faithlessness will shine through, but Jesus looks past all that! All He sees is His beautiful creation, not our putrescent sin! He wishes us home, but yet He wishes more would join His family. As the proverbial twilight begins to cast shadows on our world, we are all the more hurried to invite guests, WHOMEVER they may be, to the great wedding banquet awaiting us! Today we suffer, but soon, oh so very soon, God's love will unite the Bride with the Bridegroom and we'll have perfect communion with another! Can't wait for Wedding Day!

That is the strength of God's love! That He would want us not only as His children, but as His SERVANTS! That we may serve Him! He knows we'll fail; He wants our failure. Not that He wishes it upon us, but that He knows our best that we can give is nothing. He wants His power displayed in us so that we may love Him even more! Our God is all about relationships! Our world is BUILT on relationships! From every object having mass, and therefore having gravity, pulling on one another to the mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism of biology, to the relationships humans build every day. God LOVES seeing interactions and bonds, and what better bond than love?

Not only does God want us as servants, to invite even more guests, He wants us as children! We are being married into God's family! We are His adopted family, and soon, that will change! We will become co-heirs with Christ! All that Christ has will be ours! A god's inheritance has fallen into our laps! This is LOVE UNFATHOMABLE! This is too crazy to be made up, this is crazy love! Crazy awesome wonderful love! His grace is greater than any depth, His forgiveness without end!

"Oh death? Where is your sting?
Oh hell? Where is your victory?
Oh church! Come stand in the Light!
The glory of God has defeated the night!" - Matt Maher

Love has overcome!! Love has overwhelmed! Creation was in labor pains until Jesus sent His Spirit! Ever since Adam and Eve sinned, Creation no longer had the privelage to have God's presence among it. It was waiting, ever waiting, crying out and screaming and WAITING for Christ's coming! And now that He has sent His Spirit, a huge release of tension was released! God indwelled in His people again! And yet, there is another tension building. For Creation only has a spiritual form of God among it, imagine the glory of God's physical manifestation! Then Creation will REJOICE! The rocks will cry out! The King will have returned!

Imagine! The Bible in Revelation speaks of how our new world won't need a sun to brighten the place, for we'll have the Son! Think about this: God's glory is so great - SO GREAT - that it cannot be contained in one realm! His glory will manifest itself from abstract thought, through some barriers I don't yet understand, and arrive itself in the physical realm! Glory so great it is manifested in visible light! Wow! Jesus being the Light of the world has multiple connotations to consider!

His love! Its what this is all about! What life is shaped around! Earthly relationships are the metaphor of our relationship with God! What we will experience here will NEVER measure up to one day in His courts, for His love is too good! It is too good to be called good! There is no word, even the superlative version of good, best, that could ever describe God's love! Words fall short; just as we do. Love is not something we deserve. Its not even something we could earn, if we tried.

You know? Jesus endured 33 years. A God trapped in a finite human body. Imagine what it would be like to experience discomfort after an eternity, quite literally, of heaven. And yet Jesus did not sin. And Jesus experienced love and anger and all the human emotions, prone to sin, yet ever resilient to avoid it. He lived perfectly for He was fully GOD too. When Jesus hung on that cross, He stayed up there for six hours. I've talked before in earlier posts about what its like to hang on one... its worse than I could imagine. And while Jesus hung there, He experienced sin for the first time. He did NOT sin, but He felt its consequences. All the sin, from the beginning to the end of time, from everyone ever, hung on His shoulders. A burden so great He died before the other two criminals. Once again, a spiritual concept manifesting itself into the physical... sin literally and physically, in ADDITION to spiritually, killed Jesus.

And yet it was MY sin that ended it all. I killed Jesus. I scourged Him. I drilled those nails into His palms as deep as I could in my wrath towards Him. In my deceited state, when I was blinded, I was told a lie. That God was my enemy. So I struck Him again and again, to the point of death. Then I put Him on a cross to mock. And I watched as He bled to death, voided from His Father because I made that happen. He died. And I just laughed. But the final blow wasn't the wounds I incurred on His body. It was the sin on His heart. The wages of sin is death, and that day, sin was not only wages given, but was the thing that killed. Sin killed Jesus.

But it wasn't His sin! Oh the searing agony knowing I killed my Jesus! Oh, the cooling relief to know that He lives! Death KNEW it wasn't Jesus's sin, that it was mine, so it set Jesus free! And now that I bear Jesus's name, Death realizes my price was paid in full, and I am free to LIVE! My God LOVES me! My God is LOVE! My God IS what He DOES best! Love! That what He is! Thats what He does! Love is BLIND! God looked past my sin! It looks to Jesus, and accepts me! But not only does it accept, it cherishes! It woos! It pursues! It reaches out with strong arms to embrace, not to punish! This is the God we serve! A LOVING One, the only One, who IS. As we praise God for His almighty love, let us remember to emulate His love in our lives as well, and #LiveItLikeJesus!
