Special Post: Zambia 2016

Hello everyone! I finally have the green light to explain a little bit about this summer's mission trip.

For those of you who have read this blog before, you'll know that I have been to Wytopitlock, Maine, for the past two summers. This year, God is doing something different and I want to share that story with you:

One Sunday in January, I was having a conversation with the mother of a friend about my future. She was asking me what I wanted to major in, and I responded with the answer I had so often given; that I didn't know what I wanted to do for sure, but that I had considered something with computer science, or something with being a pastor, or a counselor... I wasn't sure. But then at the end, I jokingly added that the last resort was to move to Africa and start an orphanage there.

Being the missions-minded woman that she is, she immediately started telling me how awesome that would be, and even mentioned her husband (who also happens to be my small group leader) has wanted to go to Africa, but he just hasn't gotten the chance yet. I left church with all these thoughts of Africa and orphans floating through my head.

Somehow, they got stuck in my heart. I began to think about it more and more. Then, one Sunday a few weeks later, we received information about this year's mission trips. One of them, although not sponsored by our church, was recommended because we supported the missionary down there. And you know what? The trip was to Zambia, Africa, to help at a Bible Camp to minister to some orphans.

I realized why God had put those dreams in my heart, and as I starting emailing with the organization, I felt more and more sure this is what God had for me. Since then, I have received my passport, been accepted on the trip, had a background check conducted, and attended two online meetings with the rest of the team! Now, it's fundraising time, which is why I appeal to you all: if you would be willing to pray for me, that'd be such a blessing! I'll post a link to a document you can view that tells you more information about the trip. And, if God lays it on your heart to contribute to my mission, that'd also be a huge help. I need to raise $2100 by April 15 (the total amount of $4200 is due by May 27); I'm not sure why the deadline is so soon, but I'm trusting God to bring in the money! Maybe you can be an answer to prayer!

Hope you all are doing well! God bless!
