I wrote a... I dunno, a poem... that resembles a Davidic Psalm this morning:
I trust you, oh Lord,
for You have delievered me before.
You have given me these afflictions,
now take them from me according to Your promise.
I have worried and suffered under Your hand;
my sin has grieved and upset me.
My heart is heavy with anxiety,
restore Your servant according to Your faithful love.
Heal my impurities,
just as You washed me in Your blood.
But, Lord, if You choose not to rescue me,
I will remain trusting of You.
For only You could have allowed this;
You have a purpose in my affliction.
I will stand on the knowledge of Your past deliverance,
and on the hope of Your future salvation;
for You are a God that saves.
Although my flesh seems shaken,
my Spirit's foundation is unshakable;
for You, God, are my foundation.
I am wearied from life;
I am tired because of my afflictions.
But just as You rescued me in the past,
You will surely rescue me now.
All things work together for Your glory, oh Lord.
Your orchestrate the universe to Your liking;
I am under Your divine will.
Show mercy to Your servant,
for I am crushed by my guilt and sickness.
Heal me, for You are a God that heals,
and remember me in my pain.
But even if You choose not to rescue me,
I will trust in You because You have loved me.
Your love has echoed throughout the generations;
it has resounded in my soul.
Your timing is perfect;
though I seek refuge in You,
only You decide when to save me.
My life is not one tossed by waves,
or thrown about by wind,
for I rest in Your shelter.
My faith is secure in You, oh God;
You make me strong.
When I am weak,
I find my strength in You.
You carry me, You encourage me,
You edify and discipline me.
You restore my soul.
My trust will remain in You,
for who is greater than my God?
No one can match Your faithfulness;
none can measure up to Your love.
For You are constant, God,
and You will remain faithful to Your children.
Grow my trust, oh God.
I need You to build me up according to Your wisdom.
Help me to walk in the paths ordained for me,
for I desire to walk with You.
Show me the direction of my life;
show me how to overcome the struggles.
Empower me as I seek Your face,
and show me Your grace and mercy,
for I need You, God.
I worry about my life, Lord;
keep me from anxiety.
Free me from the chains I so readily put on,
and show me the ways of Your righteousness.
For my worry keeps me from seeking You,
indeed, it is an idol that must be torn down.
I need not worry, for You, and You alone,
are my God.
You give me all I need;
You supplement Your servant with Your Spirit.
You are the One I trust, for You can take my anxiety.
Separate me from my worry, and give me freedom,
the freedom that can only come from You.
Keep Your servant humble, oh God,
for I take pride in myself.
Break me down, help me see Your majesty.
Keep me from comparing myself to others;
but rather let me strive to emulate my Savior.
Help me give all glory to You, God,
for only You are worthy of my praise.
What You have given me, You can take away.
What You have afflicted me with, You can free me from.
I cry out to You, Lord,
I pour my heart out to You.
I have laid my afflictions before You,
I have shown You what troubles me.
Now give me trust; give me faith;
give me all I need to make it through.
I trust that You will restore me in Your season,
for You know the best for me.
I trust that You will give me life according to Your word,
for You are the One who empowers.
You will heal me from my sickness,
You will deliver me from anxiousness,
my pride will be no more in Your presence.
And even if You choose not to do these things,
I will trust You anyways,
for You have already shown me great love.
I cannot deny the vastness of the love You have shown me,
for it is too great for me to bear.
All I can do is offer myself as an offering;
I give You my life.
Because You have saved me, I will surrender myself to You.
You deserve all that I am, and more,
but all that I am is all I can offer.
I trust that You will use me for Your glory.
Your love abounds no matter where I am,
and I will trust You with my life.
For faith and trust are all I need;
You have given me a hope of eternal salvation,
and because of this I trust You.
You, God, are the One who knows all my cares;
deal with me as You would with Your child.
