November 15, 2014

Hey yall, its been TOO LONG since I have written. I am remorse that I cannot write more often, but so many things take precedence over writing. Maybe they shouldn't, since my writing draws me closer to Jesus.

But despite this, I wanna share this with yall! Cause this is important to our faith, even if yall already know this awesome truth... but first, an anecdote:

So last night I'm sitting in my room, with nothing to do (very rare occasion) and I felt this massive desire to worship Jesus. It was like I had a void in my heart and I needed it filled with some Jesus-juice that I could only get by praising my heavenly Father! So I sang a song or two with my iPod... the void wasn't filled. So I tried prayer, but I wasn't drawn into God's presence like normal. I tried reading my Bible, but it felt mundane and old. And I believe this was because God wanted my craziest, most meaningful, super heartfelt worship. So I promptly picked up my iPod and speaker, walked to the bathroom, shut the door, removed the scale from the floor, and danced and sung and just was plain old GOOFY for my JESUS!! And THATS when Jesus was like, "I love ya dude!! Thanks for being crazy for me... ya know, I'm crazy for you!!" He didn't say that to me in words I could understand, but rather by the peace and love that flooded and warmed my chest afterwards.

And this is what is so awesome about our faith! God doesn't just ask us for our reverence and worship, He wants us to have the heart of a little child!! Jesus says in the Bible that unless we become one of these, than we won't inherit the kingdom of heaven. Worship takes on many forms, but sometimes doing something embarassing and laughable is humbling and filled with reverence! Don't be afraid to let loose for Jesus! Make someone smile by telling an embarassing story, or do a crazy dance move. Jump up and down, do some fistpumps... just be filled with the Spirit and praise!!! Whatever it may be, make it personal and loving:)

You see, God doesn't care how our worship 'is'. When we pray, we don't need big words or common phrases such as "hedge of protection". There is nothing wrong with such phrases, but sometimes we focus too much on sounding holy than being humbled and broken at Jesus's feet. Similarly, some may feel that to truly worship Jesus, we need to be perfectly on pitch as we sing praises. Let me assure you, I stand in that pew and sing loudly and its ALL off pitch. And if people care, so what?! I'm not singing to them, I'm singing to the LOVER OF MY SOUL!!

Worship is childlike. To be humbled and just recognize that you need Jesus. To be like a child. You can sit down at your table, and dedicate 30 minutes to Jesus as you draw Him a picture!! And I'm sure that if God has a fridge (I sure hope He does!), He would hang His beloved child's art on His big God-fridge door and gaze at it for a good long while. He LOVES you, and anything you do for Him, be it exercise or take photos or sing or go to work or love on your wife; anything for HIS glory, He'll bless you for it!! Because worship is a lifestyle, not a life event. I want to make my life-song sing everyday in the choices I make and the problems I face. I want Jesus by my side all the way and I want to be like a child, holding my Daddy's hand as we walk together through the good and bad times!! And I'll look up into His beautiful eyes as often as I remember and worship Him like the child I am!
