Tree Prayer

God, I am Your tree.
May my roots grasp firmly the Rock below,
may my branches stretch for the Son above.
Make me blossom, bloom, and come into season,
giving the fruits of Your Spirit to all who pass by.

I need Your fuel.
Let my roots dive deep into Your word,
let my leaves work efficiently in the Light,
sustaining me and growing me as I serve others.
Let me bless travellers with shade and rest and love.

And when You call me,
May my leaves be gifts of love and life,
falling far and wide, giving nutrients to the ground below.
May my fruit fall from my branches and germinate,
giving life to the saplings I once was.

And I'm never alone.
Whether I stand in a forest or in the desert,
and if there is no other tree in sight,
make known to me Your presence as I seek you out.
Make me beautiful so that others will see the work of Your hands.

Root me deeply,
Use me liberally,
Make me a sign to the nations that You are GOD.
Keep my bark strong,
for it defends me from attack.
And if I am chopped down, let it be for Your glory.

Amen.
