Its Memorial Day! A day of picnics, barbecues, and flags, right? Our country has lost sight of its roots... founded in the death of others. Because of those who fought for our freedom, we ARE free. Many men and women, just like you and me, fought for our right to have this amazing country. Many men and women died for what they believed. Many men and women were killed on BOTH sides of any conflict, because they supported their country. We need to pay respect to those who have died, whether or not they fought for what WE believe, because we ourselves have not paid for OUR beliefs with our lives.
My favorite patriot, my ever faithful friend, and my God; He was the ultimate freedom fighter. He wasn't just killed, He was stabbed, beaten, and brutalized. He was mocked, slapped, spit on, and watched His loved ones stare at Him with scorn. He felt abandoned, alone, and ALL the weight of all our sin. But He CHOSE to die FOR US, that we may live in freedom, no matter what country we live in! If we stand for what we believe, take up our crosses everyday, and pay with our lives, we will bring freedom to those around us. Many will see and hear your battle stories, many will want to join. Stand up! Take on the fight! And today, we recognize those who have ALREADY done this!
